Embattled anti-poverty chief Liza Maza remains in her post despite an arrest warrant issued by a trial court against her for murder charges, Malacañang said on Thursday.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said there has been no movement nor intention in the Cabinet to replace Maza as the secretary of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC).
“Ganun pa rin po ang status at wala naman po akong naririnig na balak (to replace her), so she remains in office,” Roque told reporters in a press briefing at Malacañang.
Maza and other leftist personalities are facing arrest warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 40 in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija in connection with double murder charges filed in 2006 for election-related violence.

Earlier, Roque said that Maza should submit herself to authorities as “she may become a fugitive if she doesn’t surrender.” /vvp
