According to the Epidemiology Bureau of the Department of Health, a total of 5,728 cases of acute bloody diarrhea were reported nationwide from Jan. 1 to April 28 this year.
This was 18 percent lower compared to the same period in 2017. A total of eight deaths were reported due to acute bloody diarrhea, seven of them in the Central Visayas region. —Marielle Medina
