Mocha federalism video ‘beyond comical’ – Sotto
Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III is not just done yet lambasting the viral video on federalism.
On Twitter on Monday night, Sotto called the controversial video “beyond comical.”
The video uploaded last week in the Facebook page of Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson showed her friend blogger, Andrew Olivar, singing and dancing the lewd “pepederalismo” jingle.
“Theatrical techniques will not be able to explain a very serious and complex issue like federalism! Worse, it wasn’t even theatrical, it was beyond comical,” Sotto said.
In an earlier interview at the Senate, Sotto urged the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) to practice “restraint” especially on serious issues like federalism.
“Medyo pagka ganitong mga issue, dapat yan medyo nagtitimpla ka ng kaunti na hindi ka nakaka-offend or hindi ka makakadagdag sa gulo. Sabi ko nga itong mga ganitong klaseng issue, you cannot be theatrical,” he said.
The Senate leader suggested that if the PCOO really wants to help in a full information drive about federalism, then it should tap personalities who are “academic.”
“They would know how to explain what federalism is all about because in my case, I have been spending many hours reading the consultative committee report and also the PDP-Laban submissions to our party, the NPC, nire-review ko yan,” Sotto added, referring to the Nationalist People’s Coalition.
Uson has been tapped by the Consultative Committee supposedly to help with the federalism campaign through her blog page. /cbb
