Amid widespread backlash online, Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson clarified that the lyrics of the jingle performed by a pro-Duterte blogger on her Facebook video did not contain the phrase “Kain Pepe.”
In a Facebook post on Sunday night, Uson chided netizens for branding as “lewd” the federalism jingle performed by blogger Andrew Olivar as “Kain Pepedederalismo” and she criticized them for having a “dirty mind.”
In the video, Olivar, her co-host on the “Good News Game Show,” was seen dancing and singing about federalism with “pepederalismo” lyrics.
Olivar gestured to his crotch and chest as he chanted “i-pepe” (a Filipino slang word for the reproductive organ) and “i-dede” (slang word for breast).
“Hindi KAIN pepederalismo yan. Ganyan na ba kadumi isip niyo? Bakit nagkaroon ng “KAIN”?” the Communications official asked.
The title “Kain Pepedederalismo” was dubbed by Facebook parody page “Malacañang Events and Catering Services” which posted a two-minute video of Uson and Olivar’s video blog entry.
Uson likewise stressed that she did not perform anything when the video blog entry was recorded, saying it was only Olivar who did.
“Hindi ako ang sumayaw dyan. It was Andrew Olivar,” she said.
Uson also clarified that the video blog entry was not intended to campaign for federalism, explaining that it was only for a “game show” episode of her Facebook page “MOCHA USON BLOG.”
“Hindi po yan campaign for Federalism! ‘Yang game show na yan BEFORE pa yan ng pag-uusap namin ng ConCom (Consultative Committee) at DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government),” she said.
Uson met with representatives of the Con-com, DILG and Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) on Friday for a brainstorming session for the upcoming information drive on federalism.
The video blog entry by Uson and Olivar was posted on Thursday, the day before the meeting. /vvp
