Japanese gambling tycoon Kazuo Okada on Friday asked the Supreme Court to remove his former lawyer from the country’s roll of attorneys for alleged breach of trust.

Okada brought the disbarment complaint against lawyer Joemer Perez for “turning against” him after he had a falling out with the executives of Tiger Resorts Leisure and Entertainment Inc., the operator of the integrated gaming resort Okada Manila.

According to Okada, Perez should be held administratively liable for “conflict of interest and betrayal of trust and confidence” after he represented Tiger Resort in the criminal charges it filed against him.

The gaming firm had sued Okada for estafa for allegedly defrauding it of more than $10 million in corporate funds when he briefly headed Tiger Resort in 2017.—MARLON RAMOS
