PUBLIC elementary and high schools in Cebu sixth district will soon have new books in their respective library.
With the arrival of two 40-footer vans contaning brand new hardbound books donated by Children International Philippines based in the USA, in partnership with the sixth district Rep. Gabriel Luis Quisumbing, the students can now have more references for their school assignments and school projects.
The books, numbering to around 40,000, deal with subjects like English, science, math, literature, arts and music, among others.
In a ceremony on Friday afternoon at the Norkis compound, the books were turned over to Mandaue City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Viriginia Zapanta and Department of Education (DEpEd) Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Geodiana Corriente.
Gertrudes Gairan, program coordinator of the Children International Philippines, said their foundation was founded in the USA in 1936 and later established a branch in the Philippines in 2003.
Aside from the books, the organization also plans to donate wheelchairs and medical supplies to the sixth district.
