Priest main suspect in CamSur woman’s murder
PILI, CAMARINES SUR—Police in Camarines Sur have named a priest on Thursday as the primary suspect in the murder of a woman whose body was found on June 15 in San Fernando town, Camarines Sur province.
The body of the 28-year-old woman was found next to the national highway at Barangay Buenavista in San Fernando on June 15.
The victim had stab wounds and was apparently strangled. Her hands were also tied with a nylon cord, police said.
Supt. Venerando Ramirez, spokesperson for the Camarines Sur police, said it took a while to identify the suspect because they had been very careful in the investigation.
According to Ramirez, the affidavit of witnesses, security camera footages, evidence and the testimonies of the victim’s family helped them arrive at the identity of the suspect, a Roman Catholic priest. —STEPHANIE M. FLORIDA
