3 suspects yield 27 sachets of shabu in QC anti-drug ops

A buy-bust operation in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City led to the recovery of 27 sachets containing suspected shabu from three suspects on Friday afternoon.

Initial information from the Quezon City Police District said Akmad Laban, 50, from Barangay Commonwealth; Richard Soria, 26; and Byron Tampos Jr., both from Batasan Hills, were caught in an anti-drug operation on Commonwealth Avenue corner Kalayaan Street.

Aside from the illegal drugs, three P100 bills used as marked money were also recovered from the suspects.

All three suspects will be charged criminally for violations of Sections 11 of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, while Laban has an additional infraction for violating Section 5 of the same law.

The suspects are currently under the custody of Batasan Police Station 6 while waiting for inquest proceedings. /jpv
