The youngest child of Janet Lim-Napoles has left the country almost a week before it was reported that the U.S. government will seek her extradition for money laundering charges.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed Immigration records that Jeane Catherine Napoles has left the country last July 27.
Jeane is the youngest daughter of Napoles. She no longer has any pending case in the Philippines as her tax case was already dismissed by the Court of Tax Appeals on Dec. 6.
Guevarra adds that only Napoles and her other two children Jo Christine and James Christopher remain in the country.
“Per BI records… (Jeane) Catherine left last July 27 (while) the rest (indicted for money laundering in the United States) are still in the Philippines,” Guevarra said.
“Considering that an indictment has already been made in U.S. courts, the U.S. government has ways of tracking down the defendants anywhere, including tapping the assistance of the Interpol,” he added.
Napoles is facing a string of plunder and graft charges before the Sandiganbayan while her two other children are facing a case for graft, all related to the alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
The other defendants in the U.S. money laundering case, Napoles’ brother Reynaldo Luy Lim and wife Ana Marie are also still in the country. /muf
