JBC to interview Chief Justice aspirants on August 16

The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) is set to interview all five candidates for the position of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (SC) on August 16.

According to the high court’s Public Information Office (PIO), the public interview will start around 9 a.m. and will be conducted at the hearing room of the SC’s new building.

Those who will be interviewed are SC Associate Justices Teresita Leonardo-de Castro, Diosdado Peralta, Lucas Bersamin and Andres Reyes Jr. as well as Davao Regional Trial Court Judge Virginia Tehano-Ang.

The interview for the replacement of ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno can be viewed via live-stream by the SC PIO. /kga
