NBI employee nabbed for threatening traffic enforcer

A liaison officer of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was arrested after allegedly threatening a traffic enforcer who stopped him for a traffic violation in Barangay Sto. Niño, Parañaque City.

According to the Southern Police District (SPD), Silibino Tomas, 47, of Ermita, Manila, was flagged down by traffic enforcer Alvin Ambil, 39, , along the C5 Extension near Kaingin Road on Friday morning.

But instead of handing over his driver’s license, Tomas allegedly introduced himself to Ambil as an NBI agent.

Police said Tomas became angry when Ambil asked him to show his agent’s identification document. According to police, instead of producing the identification document, Tomas instead showed a .45 caliber pistol tucked at his waist.

Seeing the gun, Ambil quickly sought police assistance.

Responding police officers seized the pistol from Tomas. He is now facing charges before the Parañaque City Prosecutor’s Office.  /muf
