SAN PEDRO CITY – Two suspected criminals were killed in separate shootouts with the police in Cavite and Batangas provinces, the police said on Friday.
Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson of the Calabarzon police, said both incidents happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Drug suspect Guindulman Eulogio Jr. was killed during a buy-bust operation in Barangay (village) Pasong Camachile 2, in General Trias City, Cavite.
The police targeted Eulogio’s companion Leonilo Alava when the tandem opened fire and prompted the police to shoot back, said Cavite police director Sr. Supt. William Segun.
Guindulman was hit and died on the way to the Emilio Aguinaldo College Hospital in Imus City.
The police arrested Alava and recovered from him six sachets of suspected shabu (crystal meth).
In San Jose, Batangas, Loly Pereda, 25, a helper in a junkshop, was also killed when he allegedly put up a fight with the police in Barangay Lalayat.
Prior to the shootout, a female minor with her parents went to the police station claiming she was raped by Pereda, Gaoiran said.
The victim said she was walking alone when Pereda grabbed her and took her to an isolated vacant lot around 2 p.m. on Thursday. The victim was able to escape when a passing tricycle distracted the suspect.
After she reported the incident, a police team on patrol spotted Pereda and tried to arrest him but the suspect drew his gun and fired.
The police shot back and killed him. The police said they recovered a .38 caliber gun from the suspect.
