ROB SUSPECTS CHARGED

CHARGES of robbery with homicide were filed in court against the persons who were implicated in the 2008 heist of two pawnshops in downtown, Cebu City.

The Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office found probable cause to indict Noel Davis, Frederick Ybanez, Kirby Abanilla, Jermaine Polistico, Roy Jose Quimada, Junjun Gamanay and two persons known as Alber and Quiapo.

Two of the accused—Polistico and Quimada—were killed in separate occasions. No bail was recommended for the other accused./REPORETR ADOR VINCENT S. MAYOL

MAN KILLED IN ROAD ACCIDENT

A 71-YEAR-OLD man was killed when he was hit by a motorcycle while crossing a highway in barangay Maca-as, Catmon town, northern Cebu, last Saturday afternoon.

Police identified the fatality as Zenaides Ares. The victim was brought to the Juan-Lozado Memorial Hospital in Sogod town. He was transferred to a Cebu City hospital where he later died.

2 HURT IN CEBU CITY SHOOTINGS

A 23-YEAR-OLD man and a 14-year-old boy were wounded in separate gang-related shooting incidents in Cebu City at dawn yesterday.

Randy Cañeda was walking home after attending a disco in barangay Quiot when a group of youngsters shot him around 2 a.m.

Cañeda, who was hit in the left arm, was brought by his cousin to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).

The assailants, who were members of the Crips gang, fled after the incident, said SPO4 Rey Cuyos, homicide investigator of the Cebu City police.

An hour later, a boy was shot while on his way home on board a trisikad in barangay Bulacao.

Police said the assailants, who were members of the Crips gang, blocked the trisikad and shot the boy in the body.

Tanods brought the boy to the CCMC.
