Leaders of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP Laban), met in Quezon City on Thursday amid reports of internal disputes just two months from the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for next year’s midterm elections.

“While we have time, since the deadline of the filing of COCs will be in October, if there are issues or concerns about political matters, they (PDP-Laban members) can raise them now and in the succeeding days,” the party’s national president, Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, told reporters.

In his speech, he said the party was “healthy” and in its “golden age.”

The meeting also provided a venue for the affirmation of the party’s push for a federal government.

Pimentel said nobody expressed a desire to leave the party and that “everybody was happy” during the meeting.  —JEROME ANING
