/ 10:21 PM August 02, 2018

A complaint is being readied against a former counsel of Japanese gaming tycoon Kazuo Okada for conflict of interest and betrayal of trust and confidence.

Lawyer Rean Balisi said two associates of the unnamed lawyer will also be named in the complaint.

Balisi said the complaint will be filed before the Supreme Court for violating the Code of Professional Responsibility for lawyers.

The lawyer and his associates were allegedly given confidential information by Okada about his business interests. However, after the Japanese tycoon was removed from his post as head of Tiger Resorts Leisure and Entertainment Inc. (TRLEI), the lawyer’s loyalty shifted to the tycoon’s rivals.

No further details on the complaint has been disclosed as the Integrated Bar of the Philippines’ commission on Bar discipline has a strict confidentiality rule on divulging details of such cases. /ee
