As the “three-in-one” toilets in one of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) stations took social media by storm, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Monday pinned the blame on the unimplemented Kayo ang Boss Ko (KBK) Toilet Facilities project in 2012.
In a Facebook post, the DOTr said the KBK Toilet Facilities project was among the plans of then Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and was not executed due to the “absence of coordination even after the end of the term of the past administration.”
“The project was procured by DOTC separately, one for civil works and the other for supply of the materials,” the department said.
“The KBK toilet is merely a structure built on PNR stations but no facility/ies can be found inside to be able to serve its purpose. Until today, the project was not turned over to PNR, thus, its repair and maintenance cannot be assumed by PNR,” it added.
Over the weekend, the post of Facebook User Ehm Diolata was a hit on social media, garnering more than 3,000 reactions and almost 5,000 shares as of this writing.
The viral photos show a relatively non-standard PNR restroom in España, Manila with three toilet bowls but without dividers.
Meanwhile, the PNR urged the DOTr to blacklist the KBK contractors and to hand over the projects to them for the “proper closure” of the facilities.
