SALCEDO, Eastern Samar – The Liberal Party should be recognized as the minority bloc of the House of Representatives, said Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Oo naman. Pag yung rules ng House of Representatives ang susundin, sila naman talaga ang karapat-dapat (Of course. If we follow the rules in the House, [LP] should be the proper [minority bloc]),”she said on Thursday.
“Pero titingnan natin kung ire-respeto yun ng House (But let’s see if the House would respect that),” she added.
Robredo was here to lead in the distribution of sports equipment donated by FundLife, an international humanitarian organization, to the officials and students of the Salcedo Central School.
Robredo said the struggle on who should be the minority bloc would test the kind of leadership of former president and now Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
“Lahat nakatutok kay Speaker kung papaano niya iha-handle(Everyone is looking at the Speaker on how she would handle the issue) kasi how she handles it would be reflective on the kind of leadership na gagawin niya sa House of Representatives,” Robredo said.
She pointed out that leadership could not be seen by passing important laws but how to handle a power struggle.
Asked about Arroyo’s rise to the Speakership position, Robredo said this would be the time for her to disprove the allegations hurled against her when she was the President.
She, however, wished Arroyo well.
