The postponed 2018 barangay (village) and Sangguniang Kabataan (youth council) elections in war-torn Marawi City in Lanao del Sur will be held on September 22, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.
Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez made the announcement on Wednesday after the poll body earlier conducted an assessment to determine whether or not elections should push thorugh in the city.
Marawi City was left ravaged after a five-month clash between the state forces and Islamic State (IS) inspired fighters.
The election period and its corresponding prohibitions, such as the gun ban, will begin on August 17 until September 29, the Comelec said.
Meanwhile, the campaign period runs from September 12 to 20.
The last day for filing of the Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCEs) falls on October 22, 2018, the Comelec added.
In January, the Comelec issued a resolution stating that the village and youth council polls in Mindanao should push through except in Marawi City, which was declared liberated in October 2017.
