GMA’s SC appointees get most votes for CJ
Three appointees of former President and now Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the Supreme Court have secured the endorsement of other justices to fill the seat vacated by ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Associate Justice Lucas Bersamin, appointed by Arroyo in April 2009, topped the voting of the 14-member court at its regular full-court session with 10 votes.
Two other Arroyo appointees — Associate Justices Teresita Leonardo de Castro and Diosdado Peralta — received nine votes each, according to high court spokesperson Theodore Te. —Marlon Ramos
