Months after a robber who preyed on women dentists was arrested by the police along with his cohort, another dental clinic was robbed in Quezon City, this time by three men.
According to a police report, the theft happened at 3:50 p.m. on Saturday in Barangay (village) Immaculate Concepcion.
Senior Inspector Romulo Terrado, intelligence unit chief of the Quezon City Police District’s Station 10, the robbers made off with the clinic’s earnings of P20,000 in cash and the cell phones of three patients.
Based on the statements the victims gave to police investigators, two men entered the clinic and posed as patients while their cohort stood outside and acted as a lookout.
“But after a few minutes, the robbers pulled out their guns and declared a holdup, taking cell phones and cash,” Terrado said.
After ransacking the clinic, the two men fled, along with the lookout.
In August, police arrested 32-year-old Albert Galang de la Cruz who was tagged as the primary suspect in a spate of robberies on dental clinics in Metro Manila.
For three months, De la Cruz preyed on women dentists, taking their valuables before molesting and, in some cases, even raping them.
De la Cruz later confessed that he was behind 19 of the 23 robberies recorded by the police, two of which he carried out with the help of his cohort, Ronald Policarpio, who was also arrested.
