Ex-CA Justice Ricardo Puno Sr. passes away

Former Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Ricardo C. Puno has passed away at the age of 95, his son confirmed Wednesday.

In a Facebook post, former Deputy Speaker Roberto “Robbie” Puno said: “Today, my dad, Justice Ricardo C. Puno Sr., joined his Creator.”

Puno served as CA Associate Justice from 1973 to 1978 under the Marcos dictatorship, according to his profile at the Puno and Puno Law offices. Prior to that, he was a district judge from 1965 to 1973.

After serving at the CA, he served as Assemblyman of the Batasang Pambansa from 1978 to 1979, and then as Minister of Justice from 1979 to 1984.

He was admitted to the Bar in 1949 after finishing law school at Manuel L. Quezon University as magna cum laude in 1948. /cbb
