President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday said the corruption in the country must stop as he warned that those who steal from government’s coffers will be brought to justice.
“One day justice will catch up to those who steal government funds. And when that day comes, it will be the public who will have the retribution,” he said in this third State of the Nation Address (Sona).
Eradicating corruption was one of the campaign promises of then Davao City Mayor Duterte when he ran for president in 2016.
Since his assumption into office, many of the President’s men – Cabinet members and other high-ranking officials – have been involved in corrupt activities. /ee
