Despite Arroyo being sworn in, Alvarez takes Speaker’s seat at Sona

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez took this seat at the rostrum after former president and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo took her oath as new Speaker of the House of Representatives.

President Rodrigo Duterte had a talk with Alvarez and Arroyo after the House voted to oust Alvarez in an unprecedented move minutes before the President’s third State of the Nation Address (Sona).

After their talk, Alvarez emerged and took the Speaker’s seat.
