Guests started to arrive at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City for the third State of the Nation Address (Sona) of President Rodrigo Duterte happening around 4 p.m. Monday, July 23.
The yearly event has always sparked public interest for the glitz and glamour on who wore what for the occasion.
But guests have been asked to opt for simple dress and suits since the first Sona of Duterte in 2016.
Among the early birds were Senate President Vicente Sotto III and wife, former actress Helen Gamboa; former senator Nikki Coseteng; Public Attorney’s Office Chief Persida Acosta; Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and his wife; and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos.
Representatives from the Makabayan bloc sported their custom-made barong and Filipiniana attires, as a form of protest against the administration of Mr. Duterte.
Take a peek at this year’s Sona fashion.
