Sotto optimistic House will ratify Bangsamoro Organic Law on Tuesday

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Monday expressed optimism that the House of Representative can ratify the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) on Tuesday.

The Lower House adjourned on Monday without ratifying the BOL which was expected to be signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte before his third State of the Nation Address (Sona).

“‘Yun lang ang problema but they can ratify it tomorrow. As far as the Senate is concerned, we’ve already ratified it,” Sotto told reporters upon arriving at the Congress for the Sona.

The Senate ratified on Monday morning the bicameral conference committee report which was approved last Wednesday.

The Lower House’s failure to ratify BOL came as plots to oust Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez surfaced before the Sona.

The session was briefly adjourned upon the motion of the Alvarez’ allies.   /vvp
