Malacañang was silent about the reported impending change of leadership at the House of Representatives.
In an interview with Radyo Inquirer on Monday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque refused to comment on talks that former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo would replace Pantaleon Alvarez as House Speaker.
“Malinaw po na ang liderato ng Kamara ay isang bagay para sa Kamara De Representante at hindi po nanghihimasok ang Malacañang d’yan,” the Palace official said when sought for comment on the issue.
(It’s clear that the House leadership is something for the House of Representatives and Malacañang does not interfere with it.)
Arroyo is in her final term as Pampanga’s 2nd District representative.
Reports on Arroyo replacing Alvarez surfaced as early as 2016, although the former President said she was “not interested” in the post. /kga
