A man was arrested by the Quezon City police on Saturday for reportedly carrying a gun and a hand grenade.
A report to Chief Supt. Joselito Esquivel Jr., Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, identified the suspect as Khalida Gonzales, 31.
Investigation showed that members of the QCPD’s special operations unit were on Broadway Avenue on their way to serve an arrest warrant when a concerned citizen called their attention to a man in a Toyota Avanza who was carrying a gun.

The police tailed the vehicle on Aurora Boulevard and saw Gonzales alight in front of a grocery store. When they accosted him, they found a .45-caliber pistol loaded with seven bullets in his possession.
Upon inspecting his vehicle, the policemen also recovered a hand grenade under the driver’s seat.
Supt. Gil Torralba, head of the special operations unit, told the Inquirer that Gonzales denied owning both weapons. He also failed to show documents to prove the gun was licensed.
