Angara on Albay broadcaster’s slay: Fear, impunity can’t reign in PH
Senator Sonny Angara was “outraged” over the killing of a radio broadcaster in Albay province on Friday, emphasizing that fear and impunity should not rule in the country.
Radio anchor Joey Llana was leaving home for work on Friday morning when assailants shot him at close range, according to police.

“I am outraged at the killing of another media practitioner, Joey Llana, broadcaster of Metro Banat aired over DWZR-AM in Legazpi City early this morning in Albay,” Angara said in a statement.
“This violence against a practicing journalist deserves no less than condemnation, as it has no place in a civilized society like ours,” he added.

Just last month, two media workers were killed in Marawi City in Lanao del Sur and Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija. Julius Barellano of Radyo Bandera Sweet FM in Bacolod City was also gunned down last June 27.
Angara urged authorities to solve the killing of Llana and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We cannot allow fear and impunity to reign in a democratic society,” he said. /kga
