SAN PEDRO CITY – A traffic enforcer was killed Friday morning in San Pablo City, Laguna that police said was likely due to an altercation with a motorist, who was reportedly flagged for a traffic violation.
City police chief Supt. Danilo Mendoza said the incident happened around 8 a.m. along Regidor Street in Barangay VII-E while victim Manuel Reazo was on duty.
“Our investigators are still out in the area but (initially) we are looking at a traffic altercation as the motive. The suspect was accosted for a traffic violation and he came back (to shoot the enforcer),” Mendoza said in a phone interview.
Reazo died on the way to a hospital while the gunman ran towards the city market to escape, witnesses told the police.
It was not immediately clear when the traffic dispute happened and what the gunman’s violation was. Mendoza said investigation on the incident is still ongoing. /kga
