Tropical Storm “Inday” slightly strengthened anew Friday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Inday was packing winds of up to 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph, according to the state weather agency.

The weather disturbance was seen moving northwest at 15 kph and is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday.

Inday isn’t directly affecting the country but it has enhanced the southwest monsoon, causing class suspensions in Metro Manila and some parts of Luzon due to intermittent heavy rainfall.

Apart from Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bataan, Zambales, Batanes, and Babuyan Group of Island will also experience monsoon rains.

The rest of Luzon will have occasional rains.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said, Visayas and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain showers or thunderstorms this Friday. /kga
