The Office of the Ombudsman ordered on Monday the suspension of two Albay town mayors and several local officials for their failure to carry out a waste disposal program mandated by Republic Act No. 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, a top official of the Department of the Interior and Local Government in Bicol said on Tuesday.
Ordered suspended were Mayor Cherilie Sampal, of Polangui town, and Mayor Gerry Jaucian, of Daraga town.
Jaucian, however, was already dead.
Along with the two mayors, also ordered suspended were several councilors. —Mar S. Arguelles and Michael Jaucian
