Bad weather prompts Palace to suspend gov’t work, public classes in NCR

Malacañang has suspended government work and classes in all public schools at all levels in Metro Manila starting 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea issued the order in Memorandum Circular No. 47.

The memo stated that agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.

“The suspension of work for private companies offices and schools is left to the discretion of their respective heads,” it stated.

“Henry” exited the Philippine area of responsibility at 8 a.m. Tuesday, the weather bureau said. However, it continues to enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat) that is bringing light to heavy rain to parts of Luzon and the Visayas. /cbb
