Senator Antonio Trillanes IV disclosed Tuesday that the two police escorts earlier recalled by the Philippine National Police (PNP) have been returned to him.
“This morning, the PNP personnel were returned or were reassigned again to me,” Trillanes said in an interview over ABS-CBN News Channel.
But he said he is still waiting for the two security personnel that were also recalled by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The senator also clarified that he never had security detail from the Senate but said he requested just the same.
Asked if he was the only senator with security escorts from the police and the military, Trillanes said: “Definitely not…”
The senator reiterated he never complained about the recall of his government security personnel.
In fact, he said, he appreciated the AFP and the PNP for providing him security “because it gives me at least some sense of security.”
“And that would help me in my work so that I won’t hold back, right?” Trillanes added.
Last week, Trillanes revealed that he was stripped of his escorts as early as end of June.
