For a change, Senator Nancy Binay said she would wear a “decent” terno when she attends the President’s state of the nation address (Sona) on July 23.
“Hindi na ako magmumukhang mag-e-exercise (I wouldn’t look like I would go out for an exercise),” Binay told reporters on Monday, “Mukha na akong kagalang-galang (I would look decent).”
Asked why she wanted to look decent in this year’s Sona, the senator said: “Eh kasi tapos na yung six years ko. Di ba nag-umpisa naman akong kagalang-galang? Tapusin naman nating kagalang-galang (My six-year term is ending. I started out with a decent look so I’ll end it with a decent look).”
Binay’s first six-year term will expire in 2019 but the senator is still qualified to seek re-election next year.
With the powder blue terno that she plans to wear, Binay is confident that she would be free from bashing, at least during the Sona this year.
“Mukhang wala na. I think ha. Isang fit pa (It looks like there will be no more bashers),” she said in jest. “Pero tingnan natin baka may mag bash pa rin (Let’s see, maybe there would still be some bashers),” she added. /ee
