SAN PEDRO CITY – Three people were killed while two others were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Cavite and Laguna provinces, the police said Friday.
In Dasmariñas City, Cavite, drug suspect Arnel Pakingan was killed in a police operation around 11:30 p.m. Thursday in Barangay (village) Salawag, a report cited by Cavite police spokesperson Supt. Chito Macaspac showed.
Macaspac said that when police announced they were law enforcers, the suspect attempted to escape by running back to his house and firing at authorities. Pakingan was hit as police returned fire and died on the way to the Pagamutan ng Dasmariñas.
In Calamba City, Laguna, two more illegal drug suspects – an alias “Jonjon” and a still unidentified man – were killed in a gunfight that followed a drug sting around 9:30 p.m. Thursday in Barangay Parian.
According to a regional police report, the suspects opened fire just as when they realized that the drug “scorer” came with an undercover policeman. The police retaliated and killed the suspects.
Meanwhile, operatives arrested Sherwin Avenido and Arvey Palomique, both 37.
Police said Jonjon was also allegedly involved in car theft in the city while Avenido and Palomique were “newly identified” drug pushers in the police watchlist.
Recovered from the suspects were two .38 caliber guns and nine sachets of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) valued at P15,000. /kga
