Senator Leila de Lima on Thursday questioned the Consultative Committee (Con-com) why the phrase “human rights” disappeared in the proposed Federal Constitution.
“How come the phrase ‘human rights’ is no longer found in the Article on Declaration of Principles and State Policies,” De Lima said in a statement.
Article II Section 11 of the 1987 Constitution stated that “the state values the dignity of every human and guarantees full respect for human rights.”
However, Section 13 Article II in the proposed Federal Constitution provides that “the Federal Republic values the dignity of every person and guarantees full respect for the person and the right of all citizens to participate in all government processes.”
