Respect the President’s “disrespect.”
This was how Senator Panfilo Lacson took Malacañang’s appeal to respect President Rodrigo Duterte’s opinion that Vice President Leni Robredo was incompetent to lead the country.
“Palace: Respect Duterte’s view that Robredo is ‘incompetent.’ Translation: Respect his ‘disrespect,” Lacson said in his Twitter post Wednesday night.
The remark was an apparent swipe at Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque’s defense of Duterte’s “incompetent” remark against the Vice President.
“Respetuhin po natin ‘yan dahil ito po’y isang obserbasyon ng isang taong napakahaba ng paninilbihan sa ating gobyerno,” Roque said.

In a speech on Tuesday, Duterte said he would not resign because it would make Robredo his successor.
“Siya ang mag-presidente (She will become president)? Look, I will not resign because it will make her president,” the President said of Robredo.
“My resignation is addressed to the people para makapili sila ng gusto nila (so that they can choose who they want). Siya, I don’t think she can ever be ready to govern my country. Reason? Incompetence,” Duterte added.
