SAN PEDRO CITY – A woman was arrested after she was caught carrying illegal drugs tucked in the food she was supposed to bring to her boyfriend in jail in Batangas City on Tuesday afternoon.

Jamaica Justine Lira, 26, a resident of Barangay Sampaga in Batangas City, visited her boyfriend, Francis Asihan, who was detained at the Batangas provincial police lock-up jail for drug charges, according to Supt. Sancho Celedio, Batangas City police chief, in a phone interview Wednesday.

“During the mandatory inspection, the police found a sachet of (suspected) shabu hidden inside a box of fried chicken she was supposed to bring the boyfriend,” Celedio said.

The police immediately detained Lira, who, according to Celedio, had just also been released from jail after a separate drug case against her was dismissed by the court.
