Gunman killed in shootout at Cebu archbishop’s residence

An unidentified armed man was shot dead by policemen inside the Archbishop’s Palace on Dionisio Jakosalem Street in Cebu City Tuesday morning.

Reports said the man, who was wearing a bonnet, entered the palace compound and looked for Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma. He also reportedly refused to follow instructions of security personnel.

“According sa witness natin, hinahanap si Bishop. It was unusual so tumawag sila ng pulis. At nung tumawag sila ng pulis, nagkaroon ng engkwentro,” Chief Inspector Maria Teresa Macatangay of the Cebu City police told radio dzBB.

The man allegedly opted to shoot it out with members of the Cebu City Police Station Special Weapons and Tactics team at the parking lot of the palace which serves as the residence of the bishop.
