Land travel between Ilocos and Davao may soon become possible if plans to build “game-changing” bridges under the Duterte administration’s “Build, Build, Build” (BBB) infrastructure program push through, according to Public Works Secretary Mark Villar on Friday.
He said the department would start within the year the construction of the first 16 bridges planned under the Interisland Linkage (IL) project of BBB.
The IL project seeks to connect Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao by a series of short and long span bridges.
One of these projects is the 3.77-kilometer Panguil Bay Bridge which Villar said would be completed in 2021 and cut travel time from Tangub City in Misamis Occidental to Tubod town in Lanao del Norte to just 10 minutes. —Jovic Yee
