P1-B Pasa Dam activated in Isabela
CITY OF ILAGAN — The P1.029-billion Pasa irrigation project, which is expected to augment the water requirements of about 600 farmers, was activated here Thursday.
National Irrigation Administration officials said the improved irrigation will raise production of additional 8,629.20 metric tons of rice from 846 hectares of rice farms in the Ilagan villages of Pasa, Minabang, Morado, Fuyo, and Sta. Victoria.
The Pasa Dam would also reduce flooding in Ilagan because the 36.70-meter-high and 194-meter-wide irrigation reservoir harnesses the Pasa River. The reservoir can carry 4.28 million cubic meters of water.
The project was built through a $21.76-million (P935.68 million) grant from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong-Man said the project will also reduce the adverse impact of climate change and enhance water management in rural areas./ee
