BIR fires 2 tax examiners arrested in ‘entrapment’

/ 05:30 AM July 05, 2018

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has fired two tax examiners as the revenue agency cracks down on erring and corrupt personnel.

In a statement on Wednesday, the BIR said it had already dismissed revenue officer Abolais C. Ampa and group supervisor Nora C. Halamani from its Tondo-San Nicolas, Manila, revenue district office.

The Office of the Ombudsman ordered the dismissal of the pair, who were arrested during an entrapment operation by the National Bureau of Investigation.

NBI agents also caught three more officers from the BIR’s Makati City revenue region during a similar operation in Greenhills, San Juan City, recently. Ben O. De Vera
