Hours after an alleged drug courier with links to the Boratong drug syndicate was arrested in Pasig City on Tuesday, police apprehended a suspected drug peddler working for the same crime group.
Around 190 grams of “shabu” (crystal meth) worth P1.25 million was seized by the Eastern Police District (EPD) drug enforcement unit from Antonio Intalan in a buy-bust operation on Old MRR Street in Barangay Pineda.
Intalan, 49, was listed among the EPD’s “high-value targets.” The suspect, who claimed he was just currently employed as a construction worker, had been arrested several times on drug charges, although some of the cases were later dismissed.
Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office director, said Intalan remained an active member of a syndicate established by Amin Boratong, a convicted drug lord who once ran a so-called shabu “tiangge” (market) just meters away from Pasig City Hall until his arrest in 2006. —Jhesset O.
