Rizal village chief yields P1M worth of shabu

SAN PEDRO CITY – A village chief in Tanay, Rizal was arrested after authorities recovered suspected shabu (crystal meth) worth P1 million, the police said on Tuesday.

The suspect, Angelito Pranada, chief of Barangay Daraitan, was tagged as a “high value target” for illegal drugs.

Police served a search warrant against Pranada around 7 a.m. Monday, a report from the Calabarzon police said.

Authorities found two plastic bags containing around 200 grams of suspected shabu, a hand grenade, and several ammunitions.

The same police report said a drug suspect was killed in a shootout with the police in Barangay Langkiwa, in Biñan City, Laguna province, around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

The suspect, Ralph Adriano, was tagged a “high value target” and the second most wanted criminal in the city.

The police said Adriano opened fire during a buy-bust operation prompting the law enforcers to shoot back.

Adriano was hit and died on the way to a hospital, the police claimed. His cohort, a still unidentified man, had escaped on a motorcycle during the commotion.
