MRT unloads 850 at Guadalupe station

A southbound train of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) unloaded 850 passengers at Guadalupe station Tuesday morning due to “electrical failure.”

The electrical glitch was due to certain “worn-out sub-components” of the train, MRT said on Twitter.

Aly Narvaez, MRT media relations officer, said the unloading took place at 7:53 a.m. It was the first service disruption along the line in three weeks.

Passengers were transferred to the next train that arrived five minutes later, MRT said.

Maintenance and replacement of damaged components are expected to be underway, it added.

The last time that the MRT-3 had a glitch was on June 12. The service interrruption affected its passengers who availed their free rides. /cbb
