Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s newly-created regional political party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) or Alliance for Change, has been accredited by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
The Comelec has issued a resolution granting HNP’s application to be formally recognized as a regional political party in the Davao region.
The presidential daughter, in an earlier interview, said that HNP aims to ensure “security and development in Davao City.”

The party was also established “to pursue the ideals of what we all want (in Davao)—a strong region, a secure life for our constituents, good governance and effective leadership,” she said.
Members of HNP, Sara explained, do not have to belong to the same national political party because their group only operates within the Davao region.
“We need a regional political party because a lot of members of HNP have different national political party affiliations,” she explained.
