/ 05:03 AM July 02, 2018

The National Bureau of Investigation arrested on Friday a mall security guard for extorting P1,700 from mall goers.

The NBI Anti-Organized Transnational Crime Division said that Eugene Serdan of Market Market in Taguig City was caught during an entrapment operation at the mall on June 29.

The complainants who asked for anonymity said that at 9:50 a.m. on June 22, they parked at the basement of the mall to wait for it to open.

Serdan, however, accused them of making a “public scandal,” took their ID cards, and said they must pay P30,000 or he would report them to the NBI.

A man claiming to be Serdan’s supervisor later talked to the victims and lowered the amount to P5,000.

The pair left P1,700 with Serdan with a promise to pay the rest. They then went to the NBI to file a complaint.

The NBI said Serdan and his accomplice might have more victims because several ID cards were seized from the former.
