6 hurt in Quezon road accident
LUCENA CITY – Six Bicol-bound motorists were injured in an accident along the Maharlika Highway in Sariaya town in Quezon province on Sunday.
Police said the victims were aboard a Mitsubishi Montero that collided with a Leyte Biliran Star passenger bus coming from the opposite direction in Barangay Concepcion 1 around 12:10 p.m.
The vehicle’s driver Salvador Griarte and his passengers Blesilda and Emil Griarte and Michell, Michaela Louise and Rosel Hermida were hurt. They were all residents of Magallanes town in Sorsogon.
They were taken to the nearest hospital in Lucena City for treatment.
Police said the bus driver, Ernesto Malallos, occupied the opposite lane of the highway while overtaking another vehicle, which led to the collision. The bus driver is now under the custody of the Sariaya police station.
Meanwhile, a 61-year-old man was hurt in another road accident in Mauban town on Sunday morning.

The victim sustained injury on his left foot and was taken to Mauban District Hospital. /ee
