Pangilinan: No great strides in fight vs drugs, corruption

/ 07:15 AM July 01, 2018

As President Rodrigo Duterte enters his third year in office, opposition Sen. Francis Pangilinan said his administration had yet to make great strides in his campaign against illegal drugs and corruption.

Pangilinan said illegal drugs, which the President initially vowed to eradicate in six months, remained a problem despite hundreds of deaths attributed to the war on drugs.

An indication that big-time drug lords continued to operate was the entry of a P6.4-billion “shabu” shipment into the country through the Bureau of Customs and the failure to arrest the major players in this case, he said.

“None of the big-time members of drug syndicates has been jailed,” he said at the Usapang Senado show over radio station dwIZ on Saturday. —Leila B. Salaverria
