MANILA, Philippines— Ayala Avenue and its adjoining streets in Makati City will be closed from Sunday to Monday to make way for the annual Grand Parade in celebration of the 341st Foundation Day of the city.
“On Sunday at 12 noon, both lanes of Ayala Avenue will be closed from Makati Avenue up to Herrera Street, and both lanes of Paseo de Roxas from Sedeño Street to Dela Rosa Street will also be closed,” said Makati Public Safety Department director Hermenegildo San Miguel.
On Monday beginning at 12 noon, the entire stretch of Ayala Avenue from Gil Puyat Avenue to Metropolitan street and from Kamagong street to Gil Puyat will be closed, San Miguel said.
He advised motorists to take the following routes to avoid being trapped in heavy traffic:
For all Ayala/LRT-bound buses from EDSA, turn right at Gil Puyat Avenue toward destination. For buses coming from SLEX, Buendia Extension and Pasay City, take Gil Puyat Avenue and turn left at EDSA toward destination.
Jeepneys and light vehicles coming from J.P. Rizal can turn right on Makati Avenue, right on Paseo de Roxas, right on Villar Street, left on E.P. Leviste Street, left on V.A. Rufino, and right on Ayala Avenue toward destination.
Vehicles coming from Washington Street can turn right on Gil Puyat, right on Ayala Avenue, right turn on Salcedo Street, left turn on Benavidez toward Esperanza, right turn on Makati Avenue, right turn on Arnaiz Avenue, right turn on Paseo de Roxas, left turn on Dela Rosa Street, right turn on Salcedo, and then left turn on Ayala Avenue toward destination.
Meanwhile, barangay officials, leaders of the Makati business and diplomatic communities, and civic and professional organizations will join the parade, which will be led by Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay.
